Miami Dade College
Supporting faculty in organizational change
Our relationship with Miami Dade College, the largest higher institution in the country, began in the spring of 2021 when we were invited to host a month-long, interactive reading group on Critical and Anti-Racist Pedagogy. Faculty participants explored selected texts relating to anti-racist, anti-oppressive, feminist, and critical pedagogies, focusing on materials that prompted them to interrogate their own beliefs and teaching practices as they relate to the current moment in the world generally and in higher education specifically.
Following the success of our reading group, we facilitated a workshop on Creating a Student-Centered Syllabus as part of the “Design Your Own Spring Break Seminar” faculty development event, where we provided strategies and guidance for creating a positive and welcome first impression with students using what is traditionally a bureaucratic and impersonal document.
We ran a second successful iteration of the Anti-racist/Critical Pedagogy Reading Group in the fall of 2021 and returned with a Social Justice Reading Group in the spring of 2022.

North Miami Public Library
Empowering teen innovators
In the vibrant heart of North Miami, the public library became the incubator for the next generation of AI-savvy innovators. We were invited by the library’s leadership to design and deliver an AI-focused summer workshop series for teens. We developed an interactive approach that promoted artificial intelligence literacy through storytelling.
Partnering with Saiki to develop custom, age-appropriate AI text and image generation tools, teen participants engaged in multiple activities involving generating AI stories and imagery over the course of three workshop sessions, culminating in fun performances of AI-assisted original stage plays.
